The EV Compare dataset
Specifications for 154 electric vehicles sold in the United States — range, battery, charging, performance, seating, cargo and driver-assist data, hand-researched against manufacturer specs, EPA listings and published reviews. Every vehicle carries its own source links and a last-verified date. Last verified 2026-09-02.
It is public domain under CC0 1.0. Use it for anything — commercial work, research, training, a competing site — with no permission needed and no attribution required. A credit to EV Compare is appreciated, never demanded.
What counts as an EV here
Battery-electric vehicles only. Range-extended EVs (EREVs) and plug-in hybrids are out of scope, however they're marketed — if it has an engine, it isn't in this dataset. So the absence of, say, the Ram 1500 REV or the Scout Traveler is a deliberate boundary rather than a gap in coverage.
No warranty
This data is provided as is. It is compiled by hand from manufacturer specifications, EPA listings and published reviews, and may contain errors or omissions. Figures that were correct when verified may since have changed — manufacturers revise specifications, and EPA ratings are re-certified. Every vehicle carries its own source links and a last-verified date so you can check the trail yourself.
It is offered without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Verify any figure against the manufacturer before relying on it, particularly for a purchase decision. No liability is accepted for any use of this data. (CC0 itself disclaims warranties in the same terms; this just says so plainly.)

Checking for updates without re-downloading
Every build stamps evs.json with a SHA-256 of its models array, and writes the same
value to current.json. If you already hold a copy, fetch the small file and compare —
re-download only when it differs.

How values are recorded
Numeric fields distinguish three kinds of absence, which matters if you're aggregating:
null means unknown — we looked and couldn't confirm it.
"N/A" means the concept doesn't apply to that vehicle at all.
"Pending" means the figure is real but not yet published, typically an EPA rating that
hasn't posted for a car already on sale. Treating all three as zero will give you wrong averages.
